The Gospel
What exactly is the Gospel? It is not the first 4 books of the New Testament, although we refer to them as that. The true “Good News” is the Gospel that was preached to the first century people.
The gospel is about our sin, our repentance, Jesus Christ dying the death we deserve, Him rising again, and us having hope and faith in Him.
When you physically die, you're going to go to eternal hell and conscious punishment forever unless you put your faith (belief and trust) in Jesus Christ. We are all headed to eternal punishment for our sins, out of the presence of God forever, but God has provided a rescue plan through the death and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ.
Why is this our destination? We are with sin because we are born with it and can never measure up to God’s Holy standard. A Holy God in heaven cannot allow any sin in His presence. So, it would then appear that everyone was doomed to stay separate from God and heaven forever.
God has a salvation plan for us, if we choose to follow it.
You can escape eternal punishment and spend eternity in heaven by asking Jesus to forgive you and save you by putting your genuine belief and hope in Jesus Christ.
Understand you are a sinner. Turn away from your sin and turn to God asking for forgiveness through His Son who paid your debt for sin, so that you can be rejoined to God the Father. Your debt (the penalty you owe) for your sins is spiritual death forever, but Jesus Christ took on the sins of the world and died the death that was ours to bear, so that we may be free and spiritually alive for eternity in the presence of God in heaven. Jesus’ death and resurrection has made a way for us to be reconciled to God the Father.
Jesus Christ (our substitute) already paid our penalty by His death on the cross. All we must do is totally trust Him and accept the fact that our sins have been paid for and the way is cleared for us to begin a bright new relationship with God.
Jesus substituted His life for ours (taking our sin, giving us His righteousness) so that we could be restored to God and heaven eternally.
Jesus took the punishment we deserved, so that we could live a life that only He deserved.
